Protective clothing for the mining industry

The mining industry is known for its dangerous working conditions and high rates of injury and death. As reported by a leading US safety council, the industry ranks among the most hazardous sectors in terms of casualty rates. Given the inherent risks involved, it is crucial for workers in the mining industry to have access to high-quality personal protective equipment (PPE) to help keep them safe on the job.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's report highlights the specific hazards faced by mining industry workers, with 40% of injuries affecting the body, and 22% affecting the hands. Furthermore, 74% of these injuries are caused by electricity, 13% by heat, and more than 10% by cuts and lacerations.

Despite these risks, the mining industry is essential to modern society, providing the minerals and metals needed for infrastructure, energy, transportation, manufacturing, construction, sewage treatment, and even food and water supply. However, extracting these valuable resources also exposes workers to dangerous tasks, whether they are working at an open-pit surface mine or deep underground in remote locations.

Kozane® Extreme is stronger than traditional aramid fibres and continues to perform even when wet or exposed to ultraviolet light. It offers a great combination of cut resistance and wearability making it perfect for various garment applications. It can be used for jackets, sweaters, shirts, vests or trousers.

Providing the appropriate protection for those working in this dangerous environment is a major responsibility.
